Removing shocks for Service

Removing your shocks for service or re-valving is a fairly simple procedure. You will need a 12mm &  14 mm wrenches and or sockets to do the procedure. The suspensions can stay bolted to the sled to do this procedure.

Rear of the sled will need to be raised to let the track and skid frame hang with its own weight. No suspension bolts will need to be removed to remove shocks. Photo shows rear bolts removed witch is not necessary.

Remove the bolts in the ends of the control rods or weight transfer rods. This will remove the preload of the rear shock . If the skid is removed as shown in the pictures on this page the transfer rod bolts can stay tight.

Then release the limiters straps so there is no tension on the shock or straps. This will release the preload on the center shock. Make sure you loosen the top nuts to set limiters back to there original setting. Remember when re installing shocks do not tighten limiters until after rear shock is back in place.

Now you can remove the bolts that hold in the rear and center shocks into the skid frame or suspension. Keep track of spacer washers both metal and plastic for replacement in there original positions. Also as you pull the shock bolts out the suspension, it will have a tendency to fall or collapse if unsupported after the shocks are out. As you can see in these photos with the skid out it collapses with ease.

After servicing your shocks replace them in the same manner as explained above but DO NOT tighten the limiter straps up until the rear shock is put back in place. If your replacing the shocks with the suspension out it will not matter if the limiter straps are tightened back to your setting. Any questions feel free to email the Webmaster.
