My hyfax wears out really fast, what should I do?

1st thing to try would be to pull the limiter straps up about 3/4", 2nd thing would be to soften the rear suspensions to give the skid a little more sit in. 3rd would be to purchase some hyfax saver wheels from a after market source ( Bender, Maxx. Perf......etc..)

4th  The idlers from 83-00 Indy's size 5.35", will fit right on the Yamaha. Just use the plastic spacers from the Yami and bolt them on. They will replace the Yamaha 5.125" and give you the same  oversize as the
Maxx, Perf.  wheels.  Aftermarket replacement shops make these a cheap alternate.( Tip from Nitro)

5th  Run sled down the road W.O.T. to get slide's  hot and quickly cool off slide's to harden the surface this will help prolong hyfax life.

I wish my sled was faster!!!

Look at our Tuning Tips page, if you cannot find your sled model there, you could try  e-mailing us asking for a set up for your sled or try Bender's, Maxx's or Hauck's clutch kits or North Country Yamaha a call, & 715-453-2626.  Also, check if your rear suspension is set up correctly! In addition, gearing down one tooth on the upper sprocket aids acceleration as but may reduce top speed but will help clutches to fully out-shift (Recommended when installing a tall lugged track).

I wish my sled had more HP!

Removing the middle layer of the head gasket, and installing a set of reed spacer's gives nearly 5 HP on the 700! Maybe slightly less on the 600. (Don't do this on the 500 and we  recommend running higher octane fuel in the sleds with a thin head gasket). If you want even more power, (midrange and up) send your silencer to Maxximum Performance (www.maxxperf.com) for boring. This will give you an additional 5 hp. We recommend this modification over aftermarket silencers for these reasons:

1) Price, 80 bucks plus shipping, after market silencers can cost well over 200 dollars

 2) The painting will not fade (we've heard of many frustrated owners with they nickel plated silencers going to a goldish like color, or the nickel plating just falling off the silencer!)

3) The silencer still looks stock (if anyone looks  under your hood, they will never know that you've modified your exhaust system opposed to if your opponent found an aftermarket silencer under your hood).

4) A bored silencer is quieter than an aftermarket one,   Maxximum Performance bored silencer is only 4 db louder than stock. Aftermarket silencers can be far louder than that.

5) The stock silencer is easy to install back in place, just bolt it on as opposed to aftermarket silencers, installed improperly, they may burn a hole in the foam around the silencer and may allow the pipes to bounce around and burn a hole in your belly pan.

6) A stock silencer doesn't need to be re-packed

A heat exchanger from an SRX helps on  any sx-r's with added performance, and it will even help a stock sx-r to perform better by getting the heat away from the engine faster. If you really want a jump on horsepower, try a set of triple pipes (600/700). From what we understand the POWER INC pipes are among the most popular pipes with PSI, and Bender pipes closely trailing.

NOTE, pipes require a special clutch kit and jet kit to get the power to the ground and to avoid costly burn downs. (Consult your dealer about warranty before installing any aftermarket products on your sled). (CAUTION, WHEN INSTALLING PIPES, A REAR HEAT EXCHANGER FROM A  SRX IS RECOMMENDED TO HELP STABILIZE WATER TEMPERATURES ) And/Or  You may want to try using Red Line Water Wetter (www.redline.com). This is a product I've been researching and it seems you can get the cooling you want without the cost and weight of adding an additional heat exchanger. Submitted by ; SRXguy

I wish I had a brighter headlight on my sled!!!.

Not an issue on the 2001 700 SX-R, it has actually the brightest headlamp in the industry!!!! Other sx's/ sx-r's will benefit from  a Xenon Boosted Bulb 60/55 from Bluhm Enterprises 30% Brighter than stock or 100/55 and have a lot more light. If you are running any extra accessories recommend do not use 100/55, it will dim when applying brakes.

My sled performs well from day to day, but I what can I do for even MORE performance!!!

Install a "Tempa Flow" from Holtzman engineering (aslo see Tempa Flow above) and a rear heat exchanger from an SRX also helps to stabilize water temperatures and therefore add some (if not much) performance to your SX-R.

Some of the snowmobile magazine called the SX-R series the "Best handling" for 2001, chances are that they are exactly that, or? Did we mention the great gas mileage, liquid heated carbs for extreme temperatures, reliability and dependability?

Finally a well tuned SX700R can produce around 140 HP tweaked" right and ported even up to 150 hp..
